MANAGEMENT TEAM

 

•Henry D. Fahman, Chairman, CEO & Acting CFO

Born in Vietnam, more than 25 years experience in general management, finance, investments and corporate strategy. He holds a B.S., magna cum laude, in business administration from the University of California at Berkeley, with emphasis in finance and economic analysis and policy, and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program (AMP166) from Harvard Business School. He has also attended other Executive Education programs at Harvard Business School and Stanford University, including Mergers and Acquisitions, Creating Corporate Advantage, and Advanced General Management. Previously, he served as a Resettlement Coordinator for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Mr. Fahman also serves as Chairman of PhiLand Ranch Ltd, a Singapore public company, and Chairman of PHI Mining Group, Inc., both of which are majority-owned subsidiaries of PHI GROUP.

 

•Tam T. Bui, Director

Mr. Bui has served as Chief Technology Officer and intermittently Chief Operating Officer of the Company since May 2002. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master Degree in Computer Information Science from the University of Minnesota and has attended continuing Education at the University of California, Los Angeles. He has over 20 years of experience with Northrop Grumman, Honeywell, Inc. and TRW in various capacities such as Project Director, Department Manager, Project Manager and Program Manager. One of Mr. Bui’s major responsibilities has been the construction of dual Emergency Command Control Communication (ECCC) centers and implementation of LAPD ECCC Systems. He has broad knowledge and extensive experience in the areas of operations, project management, information technology, human resource management, and change management. Previously, he served on the board of directors of Nettel Holdings, Inc., a publicly traded company. Mr. Bui holds a California real estate broker license and  is a member of the Board of Directors of PhiLand Corporation,  a subsidiary of our Company focused on real estate development in Vietnam.

 

•Frank Hawkins, Director

Founder and CEO of Hawk Associates with nearly 30 years of award-winning investor relations experience, Mr. Hawkins has earned the wide respect of Wall Street's investment community for straight talk and integrity.  He  was formerly vice president/corporate relations and planning and head of the investor relations program at Knight-Ridder, Inc. in Miami.

Mr. Hawkins started his career as an agent handler in clandestine collection operations for the Defense Intelligence Agency in Germany and went on to become a foreign and war correspondent, international businessman, senior corporate executive and president of the Access Asia Group in Hong Kong. He has lived in eight countries. He has been involved in stock listings in Tokyo and Frankfurt and company presentations in London, Zurich, Geneva and Singapore. Fluent in German, he is a graduate of Cornell University and author of "Ritter's Gold," an adventure novel published in several languages by the New American Library.

He is a member of the Association of Former Intelligence Officers and the Audubon Society and is listed in Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the World. He serves on the board of the Florida Keys Electric Cooperative.

 

•Paul K. Nguyen, Director

Currently Senior Partner of Nguyen & Larsen, LLP, a law firm, and Chief Executive Officer of Summit Medical Group, Inc. in Orange County, CA, Mr. Nguyen received a MS in aeronautical engineering from California Institute of Technology in 1984 and was named Research Scientist by NASA from 1984-1987.  After graduating from the Harvard Business School JD/MBA program in 1991, Mr. Nguyen served as Institutional Investment Associate from 1991-1992 and Managing Director from 1992-1993 for JP Morgan in New York and Tokyo. Mr. Nguyen served as Senior Associate attorney for Baker & McKenzie in Ha Noi, Vietnam from 1993-1995. In 2000, Mr. Nguyen received a MD from Loma Linda School of Medicine and was board certified in plastic surgery in 2005.

 

•Lawrence G. Olson, Director

Mr. Olson has been a director of Santa Fe Gold Corp., a public company (OTCBB:SGFE), since March 1999 in connection with the Company's acquisition of Arizona Mica Properties, Inc., a private Arizona corporation owned by Mr. Olson and his partners. He has held the position of Chairman of Santa Fe Gold’s Board of Directors since October 2000, and until October 2003 also held the positions of President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Olson has owned and operated a successful business, Olson Precast of Arizona Inc., since 1973.  Mr. Olson received a B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Southern California.

 

•Frank Pham, Secretary

Currently serving as President of PHI Mining Group, Inc., a majority-owned subsidiary of PHI GROUP, Mr. Pham has more than 20-year working experience in sales and marketing, operation and general management, including nearly 15 years with multinational corporations such as BP and Shell. From 1989 to 1992, he served as Production Manager for Legamex Co. In 1993, he joined BP Petco Ltd. as one of the pioneers. The company has been the most successful and is currently the market leader in lubricant business in Vietnam. Mr. Pham served as Lubricant Marketing Executive and Retail Development Manager for BP Petco before he moved to LPG business in 2000 and served as LPG National Sales Manager and then LPG General Manager. From 2007, Mr. Pham served as Commercial Manager for Shell Gas Vietnam Ltd., which is 100% owned by Shell group. Mr. Pham holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Polytechnics University and Master of Business Administration with emphasis in Quality Management from the Open University in Saigon, Vietnam.

 

•Tina T. Phan, Treasurer

Holding a B.S. in management information systems from California State University, Los Angeles, Mrs. Phan served as Vice President of Operations for Providential Securities, Inc., an investment banking and brokerage firm in Southern California. Mrs. Phan also served as a member of the Board of Directors and Secretary of the Company from January 2000 to April 2009.

 

•John Nguyen, VP Business Development, Assistant CFO

Holds a B.S. in Business Administration from University of Southern California. Certificate in Accounting from UCLA. Held positions as financial analyst and senior accountant for Technicolor and Ritek Global Media in Southern California.

 

•Daniel J. St. John, Director and Executive Vice President, Philand Ranch

Over 30 years experience in mergers and acquisitions in the area of real estate, energy, manufacturing, distribution, services and technology. Has a B.S. in education from the University Nevada Las Vegas.

 

•Benjamin Tran, Managing Director, Providential Capital

As a Silicon Valley high-tech veteran, Benjamin brings eighteen years of diversified experience including mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, private equity strategic marketing and international business development. Prior to his investment career, Benjamin worked for Micron Technology, Fujitsu Microelectronics, Mitsubishi Electric America, Philips Semiconductors, holding various management positions. Benjamin also served as investment advisor and corporate strategist for several Asian companies, adding values to foreign investment programs as well as strategizing international JV activities. Benjamin Tran holds an MBA from the University of Phoenix and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from San Jose State University, California.

 

•Tai V. Vo, Managing Director, PHI Vietnam, Ltd.

Tai has served as Chief Executive Officer of Vietnam-based Thanh Viet Investment Fund Management Corporation (TVMC) that currently remains over $100 million under management. Tai is also a member of the Board of Directors and Investment Committee of Providential Vietnam Vietnam Growth Fund, a $200M fund set up to invest in Vietnamese companies. Prior to TVMC, Tai was a managing member of Peregrine Capital Vietnam, a subsidiary of Peregrine Capital Hong Kong Limited. From 1994 to 2000, he held the Financial Director position at Dragon Capital Group. From 1995 to 2000, Tai served as Director of Enterprise Investment Management Ltd (VEIL) which is the investment manager of Dragon Capital Group. Tai has had successful investment records with Vietnam ‘s FTP, REE, Kinh Do, Da Nang Rubber, An Binh Commercial bank and Soc Trang Seafood, to name a few. Since 2000, Tai has been actively involved in privatization mandate of 28 SOEs in Vietnam. Tai Vo holds a BA from the Finance and Accounting University in Saigon, Vietnam.

 

•Martin Doan, PhD, Chairman & CEO, HRCiti Corp.

Born in Vietnam, raised in Chicago and resided New York City, as a founder of HRCiti, Martin is a product of rigorous academic training and practical insights with a passionate heart for Vietnam. Prior to founding HRCiti, Martin worked as Columbia University Research Associate, conducting important epidemiological and psychological studies on various cancers and cognitive processes.  At Columbia, he specialized in quantitative analysis, computational modeling, and research designs.  Martin holds a BA in Psychology and Religious Studies from Olivet Nazarene University, Illinois, MPhil and PhD in Psychology from CUNY. He is also a professional member of the American Psychological Association, the American Psychological Society and the Human Capital Institute.
